Charity Golf Tournament: On September 24, The Brevard Family Partnership Foundation is excited to host its second annual Golf Tournament charity event. Musicians on the Florida Tech campus and across the Space Coast are invited to learn from, and listen to, a cadre of acclaimed guest musicians who will offer masterclasses and a concert on Sunday, Sept. 25.

The classes and concert, hosted by trumpeter and Florida Tech Director of Bands Joseph Montelione, are free and open to the public. Masterclasses begin at 1:30 p.m. and will last about 90 minutes. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. at Gleason Performing Arts Center and is expected to last about an hour. Pieces to be performed include a variety of styles, such as classical, jazz and Latin.

“Topic Seas in Mixed Media” and “Fall Notations” at Studios of Cocoa Beach Opens October 7

The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting two exhibits in October. “Tropic Seas in Mixed Media” by award winning artist Pete Steenland of Ormond Beach will feature his large pieces filled with incredible details. “Fall Notations” presents autumn inspirations created by Studio Artists. On Friday, October 7 from 6 to 9 pm the Studios will hold an opening reception complete with wine and food bites. The evening is an opportunity to meet the artists and view the gallery. The exhibits run October 3 to October 30.

“Endless Summer” Paintings by Terry Cope: The Downtown Art Gallery , 335 S. Washington Avenue in downtown Titusville is proud to present the paintings of Terry Cope, their Spotlight Artist for the month of August Terry is well known for his textured painting of mangroves. With summer in full force, he has turned his attention to surfing. His Endless Summer Series features playful, light filled, surfers shaded by their boards in the bright Florida sun, or confidently riding the waves. His pen and ink sketches whimsically capture surfers in action. Terry spent his childhood exploring the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and surfing area beaches. For 20 years he lived in South Florida, marketing high quality artist supplies, meeting artists, and studying techniques. Returning to his hometown of Titusville, Terry resumed his interest in the local environment. His oil and acrylic paintings depict surfers, mangrove shorelines, sea birds and turtles. Terry is always trying new things and his latest work is a culmination of his experience with different mediums. Terry’s paintings are on view until September 10 at the Downtown Art Gallery, Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This amazing art gallery, which also offers printing and framing services, features the work of 20 talented local artists with an emphasis on Florida themes. Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area was created and is managed under Brevard County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program referendum.

Lawndale - a Blue Star Museum: Lawndale is an 1880 pioneer homestead in Rockledge that is now open for tours. It has now been registered as a Blue Star Museum. That means that active duty military and their families will have free admission through Sept. .

Lawndale sits on a 2 acre site with 183 feet of river frontage along scenic Rockledge Drive. Docents in period dress guide visitors through the old homestead which has been restored and furnished as a family home of 1895. The beautiful riverfront location of Lawndale at 1219 Rockledge Drive is in the middle of three National Register Historic Districts.

Lawndale is open for tours the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A donation of $10 per person is suggested. Lawndale is located at 1219 Rockledge Drive in Rockledge.

Palm Bay Community Bingo: Bingo twice weekly at the Greater Palm Bay Senior Center.

Computers Advancing Education Lab: Once again we are offering a FREE Basic Computer Class. If you need help learning to use a computer, this is the place! No previous computer experience needed. Our classes will teach you to sign on, connect to the web, browse the internet, use e-mail, write a letter. We have computers available for use in the class. The class is limited to 9 people.
